We are moving here:
Medford, Oregon
: )
: )
: )
We couldn't be happier.
Best job, best place for our family.
Still doesn't seem quite real, been wishing/hoping for it for so long.
But in June, when Paul graduates from residency, that's where you'll find us.
Paul interviewed out there last summer.
Let me tell you, it was rough.
He took some nice country drives,
visited a farm,
did some bee-keeping,
and went salmon fishing!??
And spent time with our friends the Sykes.
Yeah, it was quite the interview.
While he was texting me pictures like that I was texting him pictures like this:
Avery causing all kinds of (usual) trouble and chaos
and Avery busting her chin open (of course when the Dr. is not in the house - or even the state).
But he also sent me pictures like this:
the hospital
the library (per my request)
and the temple.
Yes Medford has a temple.
And an airport.
This is pretty much the whole thing you see here, which is awesome : )
It also has a Costco and a Great Harvest Bread Co.
AND we just got official word that REI and Trader Joe's are coming soon!
Seriously, we were meant for this place.
Within driving distance to both of our families.
And did I already mention our friends the Sykes??
: )
But while we were waiting to hear back from Medford Paul also interviewed in Reno, Nevada.
Where he golfed with my dad my 2 brothers and both of my brothers-in-law.
Yeah, these interviews were rough.
Avery did not bust her chin open while he was gone this time but I did have a little incident with a "gas leak" and a barbie. That's all I'm going to say about that.
Ok, but really, thanks for showing him a good time dad.
He deserved it.
And thanks for landing us the job we wanted Paul!
I really am so proud. You work so hard and are dedicated to what you do. One of the reasons I married you : )
(Paul likes to tease me that I married him for the money - my response to that is I probably could have thought of a faster way...)
And so...we're going to be west coasters!
Hurray!

YAY!!! These are the first pics I've seen of Medford and it looks so cute! I'm excited to come visit it when you guys move there :) But I have to admit, I am a little sad that we are gonna be the furthest family from you guys :( maybe we should just stay midwestern neighbors a little longer... ;)
YAHOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We are the lucky ones...
Sam is already prepping his friends for Noah!
Congratulations! I bet you are excited to settle down and stay put for a while.
Oops, I forgot to sign out of my other gmail account.
It was fun to get a comment from you and it reminded me that I haven't told you yet how excited I am you are coming to Medford!!! This is great news!!! We will be down there at the end of July/early August for sure and then we will have to just schedule lots of fun excuses to get together!! I think there is a Ragnar down there in Oregon somewhere, we should put a team together, it would be a great way to run a race together. And you should definitely do a half marathon, it's very fulfilling and totally doable if you train. Check out Hal Higdon's training schedules, we've really enjoyed them. Woohoo, I can't believe you're coming!!
Hooray for West Coasters!!!!!!!! Did Paul really do some bee keeping?!
YAY!!! I am so happy that you guys got the job you wanted, and that it is so close! I don't know much about Medford, but it looks pretty awesome. I am SO EXCITED for you guys! And you already have friends there? It sounds perfect. Hooray!!!
Also, way to go Paul! :)
Congratulations! The move sounds so exciting! I dream of being a west coast girl again someday too. :)
Cannot wait. AND I hope your list grows to add "favorite friends the Oldroyds, just 20 minutes away"!!!!!!!! :)
So SO SO happy for you guys!! All the more reason for us to visit Medford some day :)
Congrats! That place looks great! I'm are soooo sad that you are leaving but soooo happy for you guys. What a great little town. You guys deserve it. I also enjoyed your Chicago post-sounds relaxing.
I still read your blog and it is one of my favs! I am SOOOOO happy for you!!!!
Great post Sum....we are so happy to have you a drive away. Too bad Paul had to suffer through those grueling interview trips....especially the one to Lahontan....now only a six hour drive away! Love and miss you all-
YAY!! Still so excited for you! And I have to thank you for reminding me about your 'gas-leak' barbie. One of the funniest stories I've heard!
Congrats, it looks like a beautiful city and sounds like a great job - you guys totally deserve it!
We hope you love it here as much as we do...I'm actually doing my Medford shopping this evening: Costco, Joannes, Winco...and I may fit in dinner at kaleidoscope pizza.
Looks great! I didn't know there was a Temple there! Sounds like it has all the important stuff- Trader Joe's and Costco are my favorite stores:)
I am so happy for you guys! Congrats! It will be great for you to be so much closer to both families! Love you guys!
Congrats Guys! We love western Oregon and have heard great things about Medford. We moved from the Portland area to the Oregon/Idaho border just this summer. In fact, once you're there, if you ever decide to take the I-84 route to UT let us know and you can crash here to break up the trip. I love checking your blog periodically to see how you are doing. Enjoy your last few months of residency!
Wow, that interview trip looked pretty stressful...especially the bee-keeping???
