I Like You
Last night Paul was heading off to bed earlier than me. As he walked out of the room I meant to say "I love you." But I was reading and I saw the word "like" at the same time and so what actually came out is, "I like you!" Paul turned around. "I like you?" he said. And we both started laughing. Today I got a voicemail which ended with him saying, "I like you." So, here's the thing...I kinda like saying (and hearing) I like you. When you say I love you to someone multiple times a day, everyday, for years on end, it becomes so automatic it starts to feel more like a salutation. Like a "hello" or "goodbye." It loses some of it's meaning, or you just don't pay attention to the meaning of it. Too often I say it without thinking about it or putting any feeling into it. Saying "I like you" reminds me that my husband is my friend. He's someone I like. I don't just love him, I like him. I like who he is, I like being with him. Maybe this doesn't make sense to anyone but me. But, just for the record, I like Paul...and he likes me too : )

Summer, you are so cute! I love this post. I think it is so sweet :)
Summer, I have to laugh at this because Cinnamon had a boyfriend in Junior High and they didn't want to say I love you, so they said "I like you" instead!! And it was like on the phone when they were saying goodbye, or the famous junior high notes you write to all your friends and boyfriends. At the end it was like I like you, Cinnamon. LOL. So when I was reading this post I almost busted up laughing.
I totally agree with you and it totally makes sense to me. I tell John I like him. I think its cute and meaningful. I really like this picture of you guys.
I completely agree with you..it's like you're dating again and it's that old spark of "liking" them and it grows and grows. I also think it's super fun to do that! What a romantic you are!:)
One day I was talking to Grandpa Hunt (your Great Grandpa) and he said, "I really like you, Robyne. I said "Oh, well I Love you!" He laughed and said that he had to love me cuz I am his granddaughter, but liking me was even better because you can be related to someone and not really like them, or want to be with them! So no, you are not crazy..I feel the same way! (maybe it's in the genes)
Love Ya
Robyne
p.s. I really do like you guys too!
Sum...you're so cute and you make total sense to me. Maybe that's why I like you so much! Can't wait to see you!

P.S. Did I happen to mention that I like you in the previous 3 comments? Not sure how that happened but it makes you look more popular.
I love that! In fact for a lot of reason I think it means more... because you can love someone and not like them at times, you know like your parents when you were in junior high! So like you said it says that you remember you are friends and things are ok! I may just have to steal this line from you!
Summer, I had to comment because know that your on to the phrase you have to buy the book. "I Like You" is the most adorable children's book ever -- Brandon actually gave it to me when we were just newly dating. Not sure who wrote it, but red cover, fun sketch illustrations...One of my favorites! Funny story...and love the above picture of Alex and Noah reuniting...so cute!
Love this post, you guys are so cute. We like you guys too!
